Tool integrates portals and BPM

Portal software maker Corechange, Boston, this week unveiled a process
management add-on that company officials said can enable business users to
leverage Web services and other technologies to assemble and manage automated
business processes.
The XML-based CoreProcess software can be used to create, provision and
control dynamic business services and processes that leverage and reuse existing
application infrastructure, said Corechange President and CEO Charles Kane. The
new package includes CoreProcess Designer, which can map the workflow, user
interactions and system interactions that comprise business processes; and
CoreProcess Server, which executes the process.
Thus, the processes can span multiple enterprise systems, which Kane said can
transform portals built using the company's Corechange tools into dynamic
business integration hubs.
'Increasingly, portals are the place where business gets done,' Kane said.
The CoreProcess tools, he said, let developers 'automate innovative business
processes and target them to the right people in order to accelerate
time-to-market of strategic initiatives.'
The business process software, to be offered as an add-on to the Corechange
portal software, will begin shipping early next year, company representatives
said.
